Head of Business4Climate (B4C) Project

Your Role

The Head of the Business4Climate (B4C) Project will lead our ongoing flagship research project “Business4Climate”, which focuses on improving business and government collaboration and identifies how they can work jointly together to achieve more ambitious climate policy frameworks and outcomes. This will include project managing a small team of colleagues and volunteers’ contributions. The Head of the B4C Project will contribute to other research projects, including in further developing our global database of multilateral negotiations and will be involved in our policy brief series of publications. 

The successful candidate will ideally have experience in qualitative research (interviews, analysis, etc.), experience in project management as well as on climate related issues, broadly understood.

 

Experience: Essential – Professional research experience. Management of projects. Knowledge of multilateral and national policy processes, ideally expertise on climate and environmental issues, or public-private sector interaction/engagement.

 

Educational Background: Desirable – Advanced University Degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in international relations, business management, sustainable development, public administration, project management, economics, or relevant social sciences.

 

Language skills: Excellent verbal and written English. (Desirable – Knowledge of other languages) 

Your Profile

The Head of the B4C Project will specifically be responsible for the following: 

 

1.  Leading the Business4Climate Project

  • Conducting and analysing interviews with representatives from governments, businesses, scientists, and other stakeholders.
  • Writing report(s) on the research outcomes.
  • Organising a workshop with researchers and a workshop with business organisations to further develop the project.
  • Orchestrate a global advocacy campaign, creating a political earthquake leading to transformative change in business and government action on climate change. 
  • Guiding a small project team to deliver clear milestones.

 

2.  Contributing to the finalisation of the 7 dimensions of the database on effective negotiation management

  • Contribute text, including examples and best practices on global negotiations, both through own experience and additional research.
  • Identify potential for further development and dissemination of the database. 

 

3.  Writing and editing policy briefs

  • Writing policy briefs, in particular on the global database and the Business4Climate research.
  • Identify interesting writers that can contribute a policy brief.
  • Edit and provide feedback on policy briefs written by external contributors. 

 

4.   Support on other aspects of the Centre’s work, including:

  • Contributing to knowledge and research in preparation for training and advice projects.
  • Preparation for engagement between the Centre and its funders.
  • Providing views on external communication, including social media outreach.
